How to Fight and Win Drug Cases in Thailand
Thailand Bail has established itself as the premier bail – focused law firm in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and the rest of Thailand. In addition to this expertise, Thailand Bail has been gaining notoriety in Klong Prem Remand Prison, Klong Prem Bam Bat Prison, Nong Pla Lai Prison, and other prisons around the country for successfully fighting and winning drug cases in Thailand. The drug laws in Thailand are notoriously tough, with foreigners and Thais alike receiving life sentences for relatively small amounts of drugs. This is due to the automatic minimum sentencing laws and the associated quantities. For example, having 1 gram of a class 1 narcotic will enact an automatic charge of possession with intent to sell, which has a minimum sentence of 4 years in prison.
Despite the challenges fighting drug cases in Thailand, we have won many. It takes a combination of skill, research, and trial experience to beat the public prosecutors in these cases. Most of the prosecutor’s work is done already for him/her, as the police investigation team typically pre-plans many of its operations here. These drug cases in Thailand come in a variety of types and severity, ranging from mega-traffickers to simple users. The laws are very important to understand for these cases, as the chances for bail are significantly affected by the quantity and class of the drugs.
One final note about fighting drug cases in Thailand centers on strategy. Sadly, countless defendants rely on their lawyers’ poor English language ability and simply trust them to handle the cases for them. This is not the correct way to approach a drug case in Thailand. Instead, it is important to ask questions about the strategy, including what witnesses and evidence your lawyer is going to use in the court. Of course, it is also important to ask questions regarding past cases and their outcomes, in order to gauge your own lawyer’s abilities.
Drug cases are complicated, and getting professional help early on can help save you from decades of prison time. Despite not even having possessing any drugs of your own, it is possible to be charged and convicted of drug crimes for even potentially knowing about the drugs that someone else had. If you look through the history of drug cases in Thailand, you will see many instances of defendants actually being innocent, being represented by lousy lawyers and losing a case that they never should have charged with at all. There are many stories that involve this very scenario, so it is important not to let this story become your own story or the story of a loved one. If your current lawyer does not seem to be able to answer basic questions about drug law in Thailand or how to fight and win a drug case in Thailand, it is time to contact Thailand Bail for some advice on your criminal matter in Thailand. We will be able to quickly assess the situation and provide basic advice that will keep you from having any major issues with your case.

I have a thai friend from udon thani who has sold drugs. He is not arrested. But he is led to believe by other persons ( local lawyer too) that there has been a court case against him with a sentence of imprisonment.
I doubt if that is true because he has not seen any paper or charges.
Also i doubt if there is any legal action against him because he can freely travel by using his id card.
I believe but have to find out that some people just try to excercise power over him and by doing that get him to pay sizeable amounts of money for which there are no receipts whatsoever.
So my question: is there any way to find out if any charges have been made to this person?
