We Win: Successfully Clearing a Drink Driving Case Over the Limit
Thailand Bail recently successfully cleared a drink driving case where our client was well over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. In Thailand, there are various limits of blood-alcohol levels, including one limit over which the police are typically obligated to press criminal charges. This potentially lead to prison time as well as being deported and blacklisted from Thailand. Cependant, Thailand Bail’s lawyers and case managers were able to successfully clear this case for our client in Nonthaburi, just north of the capital Bangkok. No Criminal Charges
The most important success was that we helped our client have a guaranteed outcome of no prison time. The large amount of alcohol in our client’s bloodstream should have lead to a moderate prison term (6-18 mois). Cependant, through our diligent work, we were able to provide a guaranteed solution, which resulted in our client receiving no prison time and only having to pay a fine.
No Deportation or Blacklisting
We were also able to help our client avoid deportation and blacklisting from Thailand. This is typically the only outcome for those who are well over the legal limit for blood-alcohol level. Cependant, Thailand Bail was able to clear this issue at the police station, allowing our client to remain in Thailand.
Significant Reduction in Damages to the Victims
In addition to the excellent work on the criminal charge and immigration consequences of drink driving, we also were able to reduce the compensation to the victims in this case. For victim number 1, we were able to reduce compensation by 62%. For victim number 2, we were able to reduce compensation paid by 71%. This saved our client a significant amount of money, which made it easier for him to get back on his feet and back to work in Nonthaburi.
The damage was quite severe, which included a 7/11 delivery truck and a passenger car – both of which were seriously damaged as a result of our client’s drunk and reckless driving.
